So went to see a special screening of "Music & Lyrics" starring Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore.
The plot was the reason why I was curious to see this movie. (Anything that has something to do with the 80's I'm totally there!) Hugh Grant, a washed up 80's pop band star has been struggling to get his music career back. He performs at theme parks, class reunions etc... (You get the point). One day, he gets a call from his agent saying that Cora Corman, a super famous pop singer wants him to write her a duet song because she was a big fan of Hugh’s back in the 80’s. Seeing this as his last opportunity for a career break, Huge Grant is desperate and troubled because he is terrible at writing lyrics. Coincidentally, he finds out the girl who waters his plants (Drew Barrymore) seems to be just what he needs…and the story goes from there...
Now my review...the movie was cute, nothing more. (Aren't all Drew Barrymore movies?) I thought some parts of the movie kinda lagged and I did look at my watch from time to time. There were some parts that were funny, I especially liked Kristen Johnston's (3rd Rock from the Sun) character. She was a BIG FAN of Hugh Grant's Band in the movie...(she acts like how young girls go crazy for Justin Timberlake and mind you Kristen's character is married and has 3 kids)
I don't know...something about this movie I just didn’t really like. The 80's type songs in the movie were AWESOME (I am a fan of 80's music!) But the plot and acting seemed to be just OK...its a romantic movie so its pretty much PREDICTABLE and not really fun. I was hoping to see something new and interesting but this ended up being another typical romantic comedy. But seeing Hugh Grant doing some 80's dance moves was something new and funny.
Hey it was free for me to see so I can’t really complain.
Mogura says to rent it, don't waste your money to see it in the theater.

You, Me and Dupree DVD review
I rented "You, Me and Dupree" on Netflix (I know its kinda old) and watched it the other night. I read many reviews when it came out, all bad reviews, so my expectation of this movie was super low. I was expecting a really dumb, stupid movie. But to my surprise it was OK. The acting by Kate Hudson was terrible in my opinion, but she didn’t really have that much dialogue in the movie anyways. Most of the movie was focused on Matt Dillon and Owen Wilson.
Plot goes like this…Owen Wilson is the best friend of Matt Dillon. Matt Dillon marries Kate Hudson and Owen Wilson is his Best Man. Matt Dillon finds out Owen Wilson loses his job and apartment and car because he attended his friends wedding. So Matt feels bad and lets him stay at his home until he gets back on his feet. Simple plot nothing complicated. Of course while Dupree (Owen Wilson) is staying at their house all hell breaks loose and of course the Kate Hudson’s character starts to get annoyed. It was weird seeing Michael Douglas in this movie, but I think he did a good job being the evil dad.
I was expecting a terrible, ridiculous movie. But overall it was a decent rental. If you are a fan of Owen Wilson then you should see this. Just don’t expect anything from this movie. Acting was sub-par, plot was simple but kind of stupid and the end result of the movie was the usual happy ending.
If you are bored and have nothing to watch then I would recommend this. A nice stupid simple movie to just lay in bed and giggle and some of the scenes that were funny.
Mogura says MAYBE rent it, if you’re bored.

Rocky Balboa Movie Review
Yesterday night I watched “Rocky Balboa” in the theaters. When I first heard that they were going to make another Rocky, the first thing that came to mind was are they out of their minds, this is going to be so stupid. Also I was mad because I have that 5 disc Rocky Anthology DVD box set, now I’m going to have to buy this Rocky VI and its not going to be in my Box set it’s going to have to live outside of it. (Keep in mind I have like over 600 DVDs, so I kind of want to keep in nice and tidy)
Well…all that aside, here is my review for “Rocky Balboa”. First thing overall I enjoyed the movie; this Rocky movie went back to its roots. And going back to the roots to end the Rocky Saga was a great in my opinion. It was telling a story and it wasn’t going straight for the boxing scenes (like in Rocky 3 and 4) It was character developing all over again. Showing the viewer how Rocky’s hometown and how it has changed throughout the years. The town almost resembles Rocky’s character itself; getting old and falling apart. As you may know the plot starts out showing us what has happened to Adriana and how Rocky has coped with her loss. The movie has a nice touch of showing new characters and old. Rocky has “stuff left in his basement” meaning he still has the urge to box again (this is after he sees a computer generated fight of himself vs. the current heavy weight champ on ESPN)
The story was the real key to this movie as it was pretty well written by Sylvester Stallone. Showcasing characters was the main focus, showing how the people have lived on since Rocky retired from boxing. (In my opinion it was a great way to end the Saga. This should have been Rocky V.) FYI: You don’t really see any training montage or fighting probably until the last 30 minutes of the movie. Is Sly really 60 years old? The man is lifting crazy weights! Amazing how he keeps in shape simply amazing…I hope I look that fit when I’m 60.
The best scene of the movie (or maybe cheesiest) was when Rocky lectured his son about not caring what other people think and not blaming others for your failures or insecurities. (The son has been trying to escape from the shadows of his Famous Father.) Well...I don't want to tell too much of the story but you get the idea.
If you are a Rocky fan and was disappointed from watching Rocky V, go out and watch this movie and get some closure because I surely did. I was satisfied at how it ended.
Mogura approves! (Mogura hated Rocky V but loved Rocky VI)

Snakes on the Plane Review!
My copy of Snakes on the Plane arrived yesterday. So I popped that sucker in and started to watch it. What is Snakes on the Plane about? Well apart from the obvious (SNAKES ON THE PLANE!!) the story line is basically a kid witnesses a murder. (Gang leader committed the murder) So now Samuel L. Jackson is escorting this kid back to testify against the gang leader. So of course the badass gangsta leader can’t let this happen, so obviously what does he do? He hires someone to plant a bunch (like hundreds) of poisonous snakes in the plane. The snakes are sprayed with pheromones so they become aggressive. (Cause snakes don’t attack unless provoked...they say it in the movie too)
Ok that’s the plot…now onto the review! I was actually drawn into this movie. As corny or cheesy the title may sound, the movie wasn’t half bad! I enjoyed it! It was a fun filled ride of cheesy snake attack scenes (a nice sex scene ruined by the snakes of course) funny and corny dialogue and lots of nasty snakebite after effects. (BTW…The CG effects were not that great)
If you want to just sit back and enjoy a simple-minded movie, this is it. But I would definitely recommend this movie cause it was definitely a guilty pleasure cheesy B movie! Mogura Approves!

NY Yankees 2007
So I am a die-hard Yankees fan! Since I was 7 yrs old when my dad took me Yankee stadium for the first time. Of course I fell asleep being so young and filling up on tons of hotdogs!
Most memorable yankee stadium moment: I will always remember going to game 7 of the ALCS, when Aaron Boone hit that homer off of Tim Wakefield to win it all! That was the best game I ever went to! (used to be when Soriano hit a HR against the Mariners in the playoffs to win the game, forgot what year seems like ages ago)
Aside from that...I am very excited for this years Yankee team! Though last years disappointing loss to the Tigers was simply...embarrassing...
Keeping the current lineup was great we still go the bats to win it all! The real issue is middle relief, well basically PITCHING all together. Mussina, Wang, Johnson (possible going back to Zona) Igawa, Pavano(waste of money). The young prospects we got from the sheff trade were great! The Yanks are finally thinking YOUNG and into the Future and not thinking about NOW NOW NOW! Hopefully we will get more young arms in the Randy Johnson Trade. But in my opinion...I don't know why the yanks are going to give up on Randy. Randy is still a threat no matter how poorly he has played with the yanks. But I guess its better to trade him now and get some young prospects rather than lose him after his contract ends. Randy was a disappointment in NY.
Well I believe that Kei Igawa signing was the best one for the Yanks...well it kind of was the only real Signing for the yanks this year. Amazingly the Yanks didn’t panic and go all out. But Igawa played very well in Japan, he doesnt have a blazing fastball like Daisuke Matsuzaka but he has a ton of pitches and has great control! Plus he is a lefty and being left in Yankee stadium tends to lean your way. Watch and see I believe overall Igawa would be a better purchase than Matsuzaka. Matsuzaka is a great great pitcher dont get me wrong here, but I believe his first year he will do VERY VERY WELL...but the next year I belive after ball clubs study his pitching style they will start to hit him and Matsuzaka will become a decent pitcher in the majors. I still think Matsuzaka was dumb to sign that deal...he got robbed in my opinion. well I guess he isn’t a proven MLB player yet...but that 6 year deal its kind of too long in my opinion, he should have signed a 3-4 yr deal and go out and prove himself and make more money once that contract ends, he aint that young! Oh well, money is money I wouldn’t mind 9 million a year haha
Oh also forgot, the 2nd best signing for the Yanks, one of my favorite Yankees Andy Pettite is BACK IN NEW YORK BABY! wooo hooo! He isnt that old yet but he has LOTS OF EXPERIENCE! and he is a LEFTY! I def want to go to his first game in Yankee Stadium! He will def get a Standing Ovation for returning to his original team the YANKS!
Can't wait for the season to start!
I will def post more sports talk!
GO YANKS!
GO JETS! JETS WILL BEAT NEW ENGLAND!!!

Xbox 360 or Playstation 3?
Being such a good boy for XMAS. I received giftcertificates to an electronic store and a toystore. With the combination I can afford to get a NEW game system and I debating what to get? I have the Nintendo Wii already and it kicks a$$! (yea i know im spoiled but I want to play the other systems too ok!!)
So should I get the XBOX 360 or the Playstation 3?
XBOX has been out for more than a year and there are ample supplies out there. Plus they have a ton of good games as well.
Playstation 3 just came out and there are few here and there since the HYPE has gone WAAAAAY down. There is Resistance: Fall of Man...that looks really good. But then XBOX has Gears of War, Dead Rising, Saints Row etc...
Then theres Blu-Ray vs HD-DVD...so much to consider but PS3 comes with Blu-Ray and Wireless Connection (60gig version) hmmmm
But I can always get the PS3 next year and maybe more games will come out and it will be a bit cheaper.
Well this is any guys dream to have this kinda dilema! haha sorry...but just wanted to share my excitement of getting a new gaming system!
So I think I'm going with XBOX 360 for now since it has a TON of games and the graphics seem similar to the PS3. (plus I keep reading reviews and postings in forums about how people are trading their ps3's in for an xbox 360)
Maybe next year PS3 maybe next year...

The Last Kiss, Scoop DVD Review
As you may know (well if you didnt now you know) I am a FAN of Netflix! What an easy way to get movies without going outside. I get my movies in a day or two, so no big deal!(I do need a break from watching movies time to time) Pretty fast delivery in my opinion, also my local BLOCKBUSTER has limited titles anyways.
So I just saw "Scoop" starring Scarlett Johansson and Hugh Jackman and Woody Allen. Scarlett Johansson's character is a very cute and likable character. (Cute to see her in a quirky type of role, instead of the serious ones) The story is about a reporter who died recently, magically(or ghostly (i made up that word if its not a word)) appears before Scarlett and tells him that a Lord/Royalty(Hugh Jackman)is the Tarot Card Killer. She starts to investigate Hugh Jackman to see if he is truly the Tarot Card Killer. I wont say anymore because I dont want to spoil it...but she does sort of fall for him (since he is oh so charming blah!) It was a cute movie, although Woody Allen's character is annoying as hell!!! But that was the point and he did a good job at doing it. So go and put it on your queue (if you subscribe to netflix) and rent it. It's a cute movie! mogura approves!
"The Last Kiss" starring Zach Braff, Casey Affleck, Rachel Bilson is about a bunch of 30-year olds trying to adapt and come to terms with adulthood. This movie felt pretty real in terms of what men and women and go through and feel in terms of their relationship. Coming to terms with adulthood is not an easy thing and it is clearly shown in the movie. No matter how old you are, we are all afraid of something, whether it's becoming an adult or feeling like theres nothing left in life, feeling trapped, etc... The Last Kiss shows us all those feelings mostly from the Male point of view, since the woman's point of view is shown mostly from the Jacinda Barrett's character's mom(the younger females in the movie seem to not have much dialog) All those feelings that you may have had in terms of growing up or being in a relationship, I felt it is shown in this movie very well. I thought the movie was very well acted: The struggling husband who has a child, a boyfriend who feels theres no surprises left in his life. I'm sure many men and women feel scared of what's coming ahead in the unknown future. Making choices is a part of life and its those choices in life that will make you or break you...
But make sure you go and check out "The Last Kiss" Mogura approves!
