Wow

Wow its been more than a year since I posted something on my blog...
I've seen so many movies during that time...but the ones I most recently saw were:

The Dark Knight (starring Christian Bale, Heath Ledger)
Mogura says: if you havent watched this movie yet...what the F are you doing? Go out and watch this thing ASAP! Preferably on IMAX!! GO GO GO!

Step Brothers (starring Will Ferrell)
Mogura say: Rent it...is it me or is Will Ferrell movies starting to sux...
The best part of the movies are in the trailer and some of the scenes in the trailer arent in the movie...that tells you alot about the movie...

Tropic Thunder (Staring Ben Stiller, Robert Downey Jr., Jack Black)
Mogura sayw: Wow awesome movie! Funny Funny and lots of action! I loved this movie alot and with cameos from A-List stars make the movie even that much better!

Movie Review Round Up

Sorry sorry...been busy and kinda lazy in writing my reviews
So now I am going to write a bunch of movie reviews so I can get caught up!

It will be quick and painless I assure you!

"300" starring Gerard Butler (aka the phantom of the opera)
Mogura review: Leave your brain at home and sneak in some popcorn and soda from the convenience store (since going to the movies is like 11 bucks now! add popcorn and soda then you're broke!) and relax and enjoy this ACTION PACKED movie! Lots of blood and violence what more can you ask for! Just watching this movie made me go to the gym and start lifting weights! This movie makes you salivate for the summer movies that are coming to theaters. MOGURA APPROVES!

"Dreamgirls" starring Beyonce, Jennifer Hudson, Eddie Murphy and Jamie Foxx
Mogura review: This movie made me hate Beyonce more. She is just so annoying to watch on TV, Commercials, Movies...basically everything!! Watching Jennifer Hudson (acting for the first time) was refreshing. She seemed to have that attitude where "hey when am I going to get another chance like this." And she put it all out there. Her singing gave me goosebumps! But the movie overall was just ok a good DVD rental. MOGURA SAYS RENT IT!

"The Holiday" starring Cameron Diaz, Jack Black, Jude Law, Kate Winslet
Mogura review: Chick Flick...nuff said...something about it I didn't like. It wasn't terrible but something about it that made me annoyed of this movie. I just quite can't think of what it is though. But if you are a fan of CHICK flix then this is the movie for you. MOGURA SAYS RENT IT...IF YOU LIKE CHICK FLIX

"Haven" starring Orlando Bloom
Mogura review:Not much press on this one...so you may not have heard about it. It wasn't that bad, Movie goes back and forth in time and puts everything together at the end. Best part of the movie was to see pretty boy orlando bloom get his face messed up! muahahah MOGURA SAYS RENT IT

"Happy Feet" starring Penguins and voices of famous actors and actresses.
Mogura review: I heard so many good things about this movie. After watching it I wasn't impressed at all. I was kind of getting annoyed of all the dancing and singing. Maybe I was in a Bad MOOD! haha but I thought the movie was just ok. Seemed like every character was voiced by Robin Williams...maybe thats what annoyed me. I think kids would enjoy this movie. MOGURA SAYS RENT IT IF YOU HAVE KIDS IF NOT RENT IT IF THERE IS NOTHING ELSE IN THE STORE

"The Black Dahlia" starring Scarlet Johansson, Josh Hartnett, Aaron Eckhar
Mogura review: TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE nuff said! MOGURA SAYS DONT WASTE YOUR TIME. I want those 2 hours of my life back...

"Cocaine Cowboys" documentary about the Drug trade that started it all in Miami
Mogura review: AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME the way this documentary was put together was just pure snorting fun! It's like you are on cocaine when watching this movie (not like I know how being on cocaine is like...I heard about it from people) it's fun and intense. They have interviews from people who trafficked the cocaine to that actual hitman. They made so much money they didn't know what to do with it!! It's insane...I wish I had that problem! MOGURA SAYS BUY IT OR RENT IT!!! GO AND WATCH IT ASAP!

"Jesus Camp" academy award nominee documentary.
Mogura review: The film focuses on an evangelical Christian camp. Enjoy the ride people...watching 5-12 yrs olds go into convulsions and start crying for Jesus is a trip. Interesting movie... MOGURA SAYS IF YOU ARE IN THE MOOD FOR A DOCUMENTARY THEN RENT IT

"Fast Food Nation" starring Greg Kinnear
Mogura review: Based on the book about Fast Food Companies. Interesting...so many stars appear on this movie. But why wasn't it released in theaters? You think Fast Food Companies had something to do with it? It didn't get an NC-17 rating...the movie kinda lagged in some parts but the essential moral of the story is in there. Big companies only care about profits not about people.
MOGURA SAYS RENT IT

Tis all for now!

Norbit Movie review

Ok! So after many weeks of crappy movies in the theater, I was anticipating a nice comedy. Norbit was my choice for the weekend. The trailer looked good and the movie seemed very funny. So off I went to see this movie.

Plot:
Eddie Murphy stars in Norbit as a man who is easily taken advantage of, a man who can't stand up for himself. He ends up marrying Rasputia a heavy set woman who basically beats around Norbit making him do everything. Norbit is not happy and he isn't doing anything about it...

Review:
Wow...this movie was terrible. After coming home I read other reviews and I was not the only one that thought this movie was terrible. It could have been so much better. I was hardly laughing, I didn't think any of it was that funny at all. Rasputia was annoying and so was Norbit. The best character was Mr. Wong (also played by Eddie Murphy), I thought Eddie Murphy did a good job doing the asian accent (in some ways), and Mr. Wong character was kinda funny too (well thats comparing him to the other characters). Everything else was just plain terrible. I really want my money back. I was very very disappointed!! Do not go see this movie! Save your money!!! Rent it that is all I can recommend. (I don't even know if it's worth renting too...) It had so much potential to be a funny movie but...it came up waaaaay short. The trailer was basically the best part of the movie! (nuff said!)

Mogura Disapproves! Don't go see it...please...you will thank me later...

DVD marathon!

Brrrr the cold weather made me stay in most of the weekend. So what did I do? I watched a bunch of DVDs from Netflixs and Blockbuster online (trying out their free 2 week trial) Now...what did mogura watch you ask? Well let's see 1. Open Season 2. Employee of the Month 3. The Guardian 4. The Protector (mind you I watched most of these right after the other haha)

Now for my review of these DVDs!

1. Open Season (voices by Martin Lawrence and Ashton Kutcher) Boogs (martin lawrence) is a 900lb domesticated bear that is released in the wild 3 days before open hunting season. This is his journey trying to get back to his town while avoiding hunters and other wild creatures in the woods. This was a surprise to me. I know it was #1 at the box office when it was released. I was pleasantly surprised at this movie. I enjoyed it alot. It was cute and heart warming the typical things you find in an animated movie. I especially liked Ashton Kutcher's character, Elliot. (Kinda reminded me of Donkey in the Shrek movies) mogura approves!

2. Employee of the Month starring Dane Cook, Dak Shepard, Jessica Simpson. The story is about a rumor that the new HOT checkout girl (Jessica Simpson) has the hots for the employee of the month. Now 2 employees of super club vie for the prize! After reading other reviews about this movie and how terrible it was...I was again surprised to find myself laughing at some of the scenes in the movie. (Thankfully Jessica Simpson doesn't really have many scenes in the movie also not much dialogue too) Predictable but what do you expect out of a comedy. It was a good rental nothing more nothing less. mogura approves!

3. The Guardian starring Ashton Kutcher and Kevin Costner. The plot: Ashton Kutcher, high school swim champ enrolls in the US Coast guard and is taught by the best, Kevin Costner. Along the way he learns about saving lives and self sacrifice. Another surprise movie for me. Watching the trailer alone made me not want to watch this movie but what the heck I gave it a chance. Maybe because I was expecting something really bad...but to me this movie wasn't half bad. Although it is hard to take Ashton Kutcher serious as an actor he did ok. (His emotional scenes, where he cries in front of Kevin Costner, seemed kinda funny and fake to me...just plain bad acting) At some points in the movie it felt as though it dragged, I thought some scenes could have been cut and wasn't necessary. This was another OK rental nothing more nothing less.
mogura approves!

4. The Protector starring Tony Jaa. The supposedly the next "Bruce Lee" Tony Jaa stars in the protector a Thai guy trying to find his stolen elephants! Yes, I said it elephants. This movie was TERRIBLE! Action scenes were very cool yet some scenes I was like how many more dudes are there!? When is this terrible movie going to end? Elephants that is the main objective nothing will stand in the way of Tony Jaa to get to his precious ELEPHANTS!!! You just have to laugh about it. (there are scenes of CG animation...seemed low budget and also rushed) TERRIBLE...TERRIBLE...TERRIBLE that is all I have to say about this movie! mogura disapproves!

So that is what I watched over the weekend!
And nice weekend to just stay in and try to keep warm!

This Film Is Not Yet Rated DVD Review

I watched this 2006 Documentary about the MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America). How do the MPAA rate movies? What is their basis of rating a movie G, PG, PG-13, R and the unholy NC-17? This film tries to figure that out. No one for sure knows who these “people” are who rate movies.

Plot is very simple. The director of this great documentary hires a private detective to find out who are on the panel to judge these movies? Who and what do these people do? Why are they picked to rate movies? And so the adventure begins…

Hard working filmmakers with their vision depend on these MPAA ratings. If a movie gets a NC-17 rating it is basically DOOMED because no studio wants to advertise and showcase a movie that is basically equal to having an X rating. So in order to get down to an R rating the Director must cut out some scenes that the MPAA recommend! The artistic visual mind of the Director is basically ruined and his work has to be cut down to what the MPAA wants. Just shows you how powerful the MPAA is and how the rights of free speech are basically taken away.

The movie shows us that it just doesn’t make sense in how movies are rated! You just have to watch it…it is amazing. This Film is Not Yet Rated of course received a NC-17 rating…of course! The director went to the jury of MPAA members to plea and fight for why his documentary received an NC-17 rating. He basically had no chance of winning. He wasn’t allowed to know any of the judge panels names, what they do, nothing!
If you are a movie fan or watched any movies wondering why some movies got PG-13 ratings and some movies got R ratings, then go rent this movie!

I just read an article this morning about how the MPAA is going to change some of its rating policies…the chairman of the MPAA did say it was because of this movie. I guess they didn’t want to look BAD so he had to say this…interesting…what a LOSER!

Mogura Approves! GO RENT THIS DOCUMENTARY!

Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning DVD Review

So I watched the Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning last night. This was the prequel to all the TCM movies.(I abbreviated cause writing it all out is a pain) I rented thinking "hey maybe its not so bad..." but I was wrong.

Are studios starting to run out of original horror movie ideas? ("Saw" was original, "Scream" was original, and all the old school horror movies kicked A$$) What happened to the new type of horror movies? Have I seen this before? After watching TCM: The Beginning that is all I could think about.

Do the movie studios think we are that stupid to actually enjoy this movie? Basically the TCM:TB is just blood, guts and all out screaming. That’s it! No plot, nothing, nada, zip! The movie is like all the other TCM movies. Hippy type kids get caught and tortured...try to run away BLAH BLAH BLAH Big Man with chainsaw comes a running and your dead...the END. Ahhhhhhh sooo scary...NOT! Seriously this movie was just what butchers do to cows and other animals. Add the scary music and you got yourself The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning! The movie studios are just thinking "hey put lots of blood and guts and some good looking people in a movie and you got yourself a HORROR MOVIE"

Don't waste your time, man...2 bad netflix rentals in a row! I have to warn you all PLEASE DO NOT WATCH THIS MOVIE! (There isn’t any nudity too!!! A horror movie always has NUDITY!! CMON!!) BOOOOOOooooOOoOOoOOOO that is all I have to say about this movie!

Mogura is angry and DISAPPROVES THIS MOVIE BIG TIME!

The Covenant DVD review

Wow...all I have to say is maybe if I were a teenager girl then maybe I would have liked this movie. Cause all it was, was about 4 good looking boys with "witch" powers fighting 1 good looking dude with "witch" powers as well. (pss...he is the bad one) Their powers kinda reminded me of Dragonball Z shooting things out of their hands.

I was watching and thinking this is one terrible movie. I did not like it at all. Story line was...eh whatever and the acting well they are young kids so they did their best. Other than that I don't recommend watching this movie or renting it.

Just leave this one alone people...(and this movie was #1 when it first came out, I guess nothing good came out that weekend)

Mogura does not approve of this movie (what a waste of a netflix rental)
